About
My story begins in Romania. At the age of 9, I fled to the USA with my parents. At 10, I arrived in Germany as a late repatriate. Always by my side: my imagination, my brushes, and my inexhaustible curiosity. As a result, I always feel like an outsider, an observer, an alien. Through my art, I want to get closer to myself and become the person I trully am.My name is Andreea Dräger, but actually, my name is Dragoescu. When I became a german citizen, my parents decided to „Germanize“ the name. So, Dragoescu simply became Dräger. However, Dragoescu means more than just my heritage, as the word „Dragoste“ means „Love“ in Romanian. Now, I have decided to be myself again and do what I love: painting is a significant part of it.
